Dr. Tamara Schryver, PhD, MS, RD
Tamara Schryver is a registered dietitian with a doctoral degree in nutrition science, minor in biochemistry and statistics, with a focus on public health. Dr. Schryver worked as a nutrition scientist in food companies developing healthy foods used in the national school lunch and hunger programs in the U.S. She has been published in lay magazines and scientific literature.
Due to a rare,ย hemolytic anemia, pyruvate kinase deficiency (or PKD), she was forced to retire early. She now volunteers as Communications Chair for Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency International Alliance (PKDIA),ย a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for people and families living with PK deficiency.
More recently, sheโs been involved in projects to better understand what itโs like for people with hemolytic anemias to live with fatigue, to identify their unmet needs, the psychosocial impacts of living with pyruvate kinase deficiency, and to determine the patient-doctor relationship in the clinic.
