Dr. Madeleine Verhovsek is a Professor of Medicine, and Pathology & Molecular Medicine at McMaster University. She is the Director of the Adult Hemoglobinopathy Program at McMaster University Medical Centre and the Chief of Medicine at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton.
Dr. Verhovsek has worked to establish SCD clinical guidelines with the American Society of Hematology, the European RARE-Best Practices group, the Canadian Haemoglobinopathy Association and the Ontario Ministry of Health, including the 2023 Ontario Health Sickle Cell Disease Quality Standards. She is passionate about health equity, anti-racism, capacity building, health system design and global health.
