Maureen Okam Achebe (MD, MPH) completed her training in hematology/medical oncology at Yale New-Haven Hospital and practices hematology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI).
Maureen is the Clinical Director of Hematology and Director of the Comprehensive SCD Center at BWH. She has a master’s degree from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Her interests include advancing the care of people with hematology diseases and delivery of equitable care, at a population level. Some of her current work focuses on investigating new therapies for SCD and delivery of SCD care through CONSA the WHO PEN-Plus initiative. As well as addressing the impact of Duffy null phenotype on pharmaco-equity. She also works on the management of iron deficiency anemia in individuals at highest risk in pregnancy. She is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Associate Professor of Global health equity at Harvard Medical School.
