Andrew Zapfel is a seasoned global health and human rights professional with over a decade of experience in international development. He currently is the Senior Manager of International Programs and Alliances at the American Society of Hematology, where he leads broad global SCD efforts. Zapfel has worked with diverse organizations, including Palladium International and the United Nations Joint Program on HIV/AIDS. His expertise spans health system strengthening, policy advocacy, and governance, particularly in countries like Kenya, Afghanistan, and South Africa. Zapfel’s work is deeply rooted in his commitment to advancing health equity and human rights on a global scale. He is also an adjunct instructor at George Washington University.
