Professor of Pediatrics and Haematology at Ufficial University of Mbujimayi (UOM) in DRC and Visitor Teacher at University of Kinshasa and University of Lubumbashi; Leon Tshilolo is the Director of the Institut de Recherche Biomédicale 1-Health associated to CEFA-Monkole in Kinshasa, DRC. He has dedicated most of his research activities to Sickle Cell Disease.
He conducted a NBS pilot study in DRC and a Phase 2 study of the use of hydroxyurea in Africa (Reach/ site DRC)
Leon Tshilolo is also Co-Chair in SickleinAfrica Consortium, Expert Consultant in WHO-AFRO, President and co-founder of REDAC, a network of SCD Research in Central Africa. He is a member of the Académie de Médecine de France and the Académie Congolaise des Sciences (ACCOS).
