Prof. Saleh Yuguda
I currently serve as the Director-General of the National Blood Service Commission (NBSC) in
Nigeria. I earned my MBBS degree from the University of Maiduguri in 2004 and later completed
residency training in Hematology and Blood Transfusion at University College Hospital, Ibadan. I
became a Fellow of the Faculty of Pathology at the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria
in 2012.
I am also a fellow of the International Hemophilia Treatment Centre. At NBSC, I lead nationwide
efforts to improve the blood transfusion system, ensuring safety, quality, and sustainability in line with
global best practices. Before joining NBSC, I was an Honorary Consultant Hematologist at the
Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, and a lecturer at Gombe State University.
