Dr. Mary Akua Ampomah
Mary Akua Ampomah (PhD) is a Clinical Psychologist and Lecturer at the Fred N. Binka School of Public Health, University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ghana. She also serves patients at the Volta Regional Hospital in Hohoe and is deeply involved in research and advocacy for sickle cell disease (SCD) and other inherited blood disorders.
With over 13 years of global advocacy experience, including her leadership as former CEO and President of GASCDO and current African Manager for GANSID, she works to reduce stigma, eliminate treatment barriers, and promote equitable care. Her passion, rooted in personal childhood experiences, drives her commitment to culturally sensitive, evidence-based interventions that improve the quality and length of life for people living with inherited blood disorders.
