Tamara Schryver is a registered dietitian with a doctoral degree in nutrition science and a focus on public health. She retired early from full-time work due to a rare hemolytic anemia, pyruvate kinase deficiency (PK deficiency). Prior to that, Tamara worked as a nutrition scientist in food companies advocating for the development of healthy food products that would meet the nutrition criteria of the national school lunch and hunger programs in the U.S. Dr. Schryver was widely published in lay magazines and scientific literature. She now volunteers as Communications Director for Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency International Alliance (PKDIA), a nonprofit devoted to enhancing the quality of life for people and families living with PK deficiency. She is a mother of two children, loves good food, her pets, and her garden.
