Prof. Leon Tshilolo is a Professor of Pediatrics and Hematology at the Official University of Mbujimayi (UOM) in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and a Visiting Lecturer at both the University of Kinshasa and the University of Lubumbashi. He also serves as the Director of the Institut de Recherche Biomédicale 1-Health (IRB 1-Health), affiliated with CEFA-Monkole in Kinshasa, DRC.
Professor Tshilolo has dedicated most of his research career to sickle cell disease, with over 100 scientific articles published on the subject. He currently serves as Co-Chair of the SickleinAfrica Consortium, Expert Consultant to WHO-AFRO, and President and Co-Founder of REDAC (Réseau d’Étude de la Drépanocytose en Afrique Centrale), a leading research network focused on sickle cell disease in Central Africa.
In recognition of his contributions to medicine and scientific research, Professor Tshilolo is a member of the Académie de Médecine de France and the Académie Congolaise des Sciences (ACCOS).
