Ms. Anubha Taneja-Mukherjee
Anubha Taneja-Mukherjee is a lawyer by training and has seventeen years of experience in advocacy. A thalassemic herself, Mukherjee has been working for the cause of thalassemia since her early years in Thalassemics India. As early as 2006, while still a student of law at Campus Law Center (Delhi University), Mukherjee represented the thalassemia patients of SSK Hospital (Delhi) before the relevant authorities in the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, for establishing the Day Care Center for Thalassemia at the said hospital.
Mukherjee is also responsible for setting up the Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAT) lab in the Indian Red Cross Society HQ in Delhi in a PPP mode. The lab was inaugurated by former Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan. She is a credible voice on blood safety and has been extensively covered by the media for her endeavors in the field of thalassemia. She represents TPAG as a special invitee to the National Blood Transfusion Council (NBTC) under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW). Mukherjee is also a member of the Thalassemia Patients Advocacy Group of Thalassemia International Federation (TIF), which is headquartered in Cyprus. Apart from TIF, Mukherjee has engaged with members of Cooleyโs Anemia Foundation of the United States of America and the Federation of Malaysia Thalassemia Societies. Her speaking engagements have been in countries like the U.S, Greece, Germany, Turkey, and Malaysia. Mukherjee was invited by Thalassemic India (a not-for-profit organization in existence for 35 years) to set up and lead the Thalassemia Patients Advocacy Group in 2017.
