Dr. Farrukh Shah

Dr Shah completed her medical training at Fatima Jinnah Medical College in Pakistan. She completed her hematology specialist registrar training on the UCLH rotation ( London) and then undertook research on hemoglobinopathies with Professor John Porter at UCL. She was successfully awarded her MD on the relationship between non-transferrin-bound Iron and iron overload in sickle and thalassemia syndromes. She became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2008.
Dr Shah was appointed Consultant Haematologist at the Whittington Hospital NHS in 2004. In July 2021 she was appointed as Medical Director for Transfusion at NHS BT and continues to provide clinical service as an honorary consultant at Whittington Hospital.
