Prof. Titi Adeyemo – Nigeria
Prof. Titi Adeyemo; MSc, FMCPath, obtained her medical degree at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, and had residency training in hematology & blood transfusion at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital earning a fellowship from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FMCPath).
She obtained a Master’s degree in Hemoglobinopathies at the University College London with Distinction. She joined the Department of Hematology & Blood Transfusion, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, College of Medicine, University of Lagos as a faculty in 2009 where she rose to the position of Professor of Hematology.
She is also a Consultant-Specialist hematopathologist at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital. Her research and clinical interests are in sickle cell disease (SCD), blood transfusion, and inherited bleeding disorders. She has led the hemoglobin reference laboratory and the apheresis Unit at the Sickle Cell Foundation of Nigeria since 2013 to provide an accurate and reliable diagnosis of hemoglobinopathies and to ensure the availability of emergency and routine apheresis (blood exchange) procedures for sickle and non-sickle patients.
Prof Adeyemo pioneered the bleeding disorder clinic and the World bleeding disorder registry at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital. She is a member of the National Working Group on the review of the National Guideline for the Control and Management of Sickle Cell Disease in Nigeria.
