Dr. K. Saroja is a dedicated Medical Officer associated with the Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Society, Hyderabad,India with over 14 years of experience in managing thalassemia and sickle cell anemia. Her journey began with a strong commitment to improving the quality of care for patients with thalassemia and sickle cell anemia, and over time she has developed significant expertise in their comprehensive management.
She played a key role in streamlining patient care services by establishing structured systems for blood transfusion scheduling, consultations, and counseling. Dr. Saroja has been instrumental in designing and implementing prevention programs, particularly through antenatal counseling for carrier couples, enabling them to make informed decisions. She has also contributed to capacity building by training paramedical staff at the grassroots level.
An active contributor to academic and professional forums, she has been part of the organizing committee for three national conferences and two CME programs for gynecologists and obstetricians. Under her guidance, more than 150 thalassemia patients were successfully prepared for bone marrow transplants.
In addition, she actively conducts monthly awareness and counseling programs for sickle cell patients and parents and has organized cultural initiatives. She is also a qualified child nutritionist and holds expertise in hospital management.
