Dr. Vasiliki Danilatou is a hematologist and Assistant Professor of Hematology at the School of Medicine, European University of Cyprus, with over 25 years of experience in clinical care, academic teaching, and translational research. She received her medical and doctoral degrees from the University of Crete, Greece, and holds a Master by Research from Bournemouth University, UK, where her work focused on machine learning applications in venous thromboembolism.
Her clinical and academic expertise spans pediatric and adult hematology, blood banking, and hemostasis. She has held research positions at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey, USA, and the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Foundation for Research and Technology- Hellas (FORTH), Greece. She is a recipient of a fellowship from the Foundation of the Hellenic Society of Hematology, which supported her advanced research training in gene expression analysis in the U.S.
Dr. Danilatou has authored over 35 peer-reviewed publications and conference proceedings, along with multiple book chapters on hematologic disorders and coagulopathies. She is principal investigator and co-investigator in several EU-funded research projects (HORIZON Europe, Digital Europe, EU4Health) focused on artificial intelligence-enabled patient monitoring, digital health transformation, and cybersecurity in healthcare.
As a member of theย Board of Directors of GANSID, she contributes her expertise to advancing cross-disease collaboration, patient-centered education, and global mentoring initiatives. She also serves on the Standing Committee for Artificial Intelligence of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), and holds a leadership role in the Steering Committee for Hemostasis of the Hellenic Society of Hematology.
Her career reflects a strong commitment to equitable healthcare, scientific innovation, and global collaboration in hematology.
